First off you are loved by The Father. I say that because sometimes we forget the most simple aspect of our human existence and that is, WE ARE LOVED.
What can I say about SLS 18? With sub zero temperatures, over crowded hotel rooms and a line for Starbucks that rivals the most crowded of DMVs, its fair to expect that this conference was miserable. Yet I'm sitting here with a smile on my face reflecting on an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Why? I got to witness the Holy Spirit set a fire in eight thousand college students. I can confidently say the young church is very much alive and ready to serve.
What makes me believe that the young church is on fire? I witnessed eight thousand students drop to their knees the moment the Blessed Sacrament entered the room. Its honestly beyond words, but the only word that even comes close is, love. To see so many young people in love with our Lord and praising his name will be something that stays with me forever.
Adoration wasn't the only experience that stood out to me. To see priests, sisters and other religious life just embracing the young church was so heartening. Students would pull a priest aside in a hallway and ask for their confession with no hesitation. Thats all the proof you need that the young church is alive and thriving.
So please do whatever you can to support the young church. They are on fire and desiring to serve, so let them. Love them, know them, and support them. Dont be afraid to talk to them or to invite them to the parish. When they leave college there has to be a support system for them and as their brothers and sisters in christ we are that support system. TOGETHER WE ARE THE CHURCH.
